Sign this Petition Now to Tell NC Legislators to Strengthen the Early Childhood Education Workforce!
Each young child enrolled in a child care program deserves an early childhood teacher who is well-qualified and well-compensated for the important work they do. Please sign this petition to show your support for H882/S634 Early Childhood Recommendations to strengthen the early childhood education workforce through increased education and compensation.
H882 and S634 are historic, bipartisan bills to improve the education, skills and compensation of lead teachers in child care programs, as well as create a model Infant Toddler child care pilot program that is similar to the NC Pre-K Program.
North Carolina’s young children need teachers who have the necessary education and skills to support their healthy development and learning during the critical early years. A new compensation strategy is also needed to support the early education workforce, most of whom are woefully underpaid and earn only $10 per hour on average. Increasing education standards and compensation will help to attract and retain qualified teachers who will serve our state’s young children and families.
It's time for policymakers to strengthen the early childhood education workforce and support the children and families they serve. Please sign the petition by Monday June 17th so we can urge state legislators to pass this bill soon to support early educators!
